Overview

“Everything flows and nothing abides, everything gives way and nothing stays fixed“

Heraklit

Dan Carabas is in search of the infinitesimal space that opens between thoughts and the intimacy of those moments supposedly hidden from view. He photographs the subjects of his pictures in their homes, thus creating snapshots filled with intimacy, akin to those fleeting thoughts that vanish the moment they occur.

For Dan Carabas, true beauty lies in the naturalness of movement and the magic of the fleeting moment. He seeks a beauty that transcends outward contemplation, born from the harmonious interaction of movement, thought, and space. Captured through space and time, his photographs reflect the evanescence of the moment; and it is precisely in this evanescence that their true beauty resides. With a calm voice, akin to a whisper, his images lead the viewer along a trail filled with meditation. In the soft glow of the day, they radiate peace, harmony, and naturalness, whose symbiosis offers a glimpse into the lives of his protagonists, mostly intimate and shielded from prying eyes.

However, the gaze the viewer witnesses is not one of those stolen snapshots through a keyhole. The camera manages to be both present and invisible, allowing the viewer to engage more deeply with the situation. They are invited to seize the moment and dissolve it, by observing, from the flow of evanescence, for a fleeting instant.
